DESCRIPTION: Every period of national turmoil and change generates music of protest, music that cries out for justice and galvanizes listeners. The acoustic duo, Hot Tamale, has created a song for this pivotal moment. "We Used to be America" celebrates our proud immigrant heritage and asks us to consider who we are becoming at a time when nativist, anti-immigrant sentiment is being passed off as patriotism.
Having created a song with a timely and urgent message, our hope is that it will be aired as part of the conversation about who we are as a people, a conversation that is critical as we approach the midterm elections. This is not a money making venture and no rights are reserved. Our goal is to add our voices to the movement to resist the fear and meanness that is being passed off as patriotism by the Trump administration.
